Campaign of the Month: November 2018
The Red Hand
The Martyrs Militant are the warriors of the Blessed Martyrs of Sithrak and, while they do not relish the thought of bringing more suffering into the world, like their god, they know that greater sacrifices are necessary to preserve good in this world.
Suffer Not the Tormentors (Su)
The Blessed Martyrs know that some creatures bring suffering into the world and parse it out amongst the innocents for their own gain. The militant arm strives to remove these tormentors and their poisoned crop from Lyria.
| Once per day, a paladin can call out to the powers of good to aid her in her struggle against tormentors. This allows her to transfer any suffering she may be carrying onto her target.
As a swift action, the paladin chooses one target within sight to smite. If this target is evil, the paladin adds her Cha bonus (if any) to her attack rolls. Furthermore, if the paladin has any nonlethal damage, she may heal an amount of nonlethal damage up to her paladin level to have her attack deal the same amount of additional damage. If the target of smite evil is an outsider with the evil subtype, an evil-aligned dragon, or an undead creature, the bonus to damage on the first successful attack increases to twice the nonlethal damage healed. Regardless of the target, smite evil attacks automatically bypass any DR the creature might possess. In addition, while smite evil is in effect, half of any damage the paladin receives from the target’s attacks (minimum 1) is applied as nonlethal damage; the remaining damage keeps its original type. If the paladin targets a creature that is not evil, the smite is wasted with no effect. The smite effect remains until the target of the smite is dead or the next time the paladin rests and regains her uses of this ability. At 4th level, and at every three levels thereafter, the paladin may use Suffer Not the Tormentors one additional time per day, as indicated on Table: Paladin, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level.
This ability replaces Smite Evil.
Take on their Burden (Su)
Followers of Sithrak know that simply healing the suffering simply releases the pain into the worlds allowing it to find a new victim in time. Martyrs Militant choose instead to carry the pain for those who cannot.
Beginning at 2nd level, a Martyr Militant can take on the wounds of others by touch. Each day, she can use this ability a number of times equal to 1/2 her Martyr Militant level plus her Charisma modifier. With one use of this ability, a paladin can take 5 points of nonlethal for every two paladin levels she possesses to heal the same amount of damage. Using this ability is a standard action. A paladin only needs one free hand to use this ability.
This ability replaces Lay On Hands.
Defend the Defenceless (Ex)
On the battlefield, the Martyrs Militant are often the first to lay down their lives for their comrades.
When a Martyr Militant reaches level 4, she receives In Harm’s Way as a bonus feat. Furthermore, any damage she receives as a result of using the feat is turned into nonlethal damage.Starting at level 8, she may take the aid another action to improve an ally’s AC as a move action and as a swift action starting at level 12.
This ability replaces Channel Positive Energy.
